Packaged Units

Our self-contained packaged systems, mounted outside the home on a ground pad, rack, or on the roof, utilize ducting to circulate air throughout the house. EverRest brand packaged systems offer advanced features such as 2-stage compressors, multi-stage gas valves, variable speed fans, and quiet operation.

In coordination with manufacturers, the DOE assigns SEER2, EER2, AFUE, and HSPF2 ratings. A higher rating indicates a more energy-efficient unit. The Department of Energy (DOE) has established minimum efficiency standards, which vary by region. Therefore, your selection of package units should be based on the specific requirements in your area.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has established minimum efficiency national standards for package units at 13.4 SEER2, 10.6 EER2, and 6.7 HSPF2 across the United States. Higher SEER2 and HSPF2 ratings indicate greater energy savings.

SEER Versus SEER2

SEER2 is an updated rating standard introduced by the DOE. The DOE designed the SEER2 standards to assess typical home operating conditions more accurately than the older SEER rating standards, which used precise protocols to determine ratings at ideal conditions. The SEER2 standards incorporate updated testing procedures, better indicating how a unit operates in real-world scenarios.

Like miles-per-gallon for a car, SEER2 and EER2 provide a simple method to compare the efficiencies of various products – the higher the rating, the more efficient the unit.

EER2 versus SEER2

EER2 and SEER2 both evaluate an air conditioner’s energy efficiency, but they apply to two different types of temperature conditions:

• EER2 measures an air conditioner’s efficiency at the peak cooling temperature of 95°F.
• SEER2 measures an air conditioner’s efficiency throughout an entire cooling season, with temperatures ranging from 65°F to 104°F.
